Google Hackathon – Learnstick

Google Hackathon – Learnstick

At the beginning of July, in relation to one of our projects – Learnstick – Studentab was invited to Google Zürich Headquarters, to help further develop this promising project.
Learnstick is a project conceived by professor Ronny Standtke from the University of Bern, Switzerland. It consists of a standard USB-stick with a complete Linux Operative System and specific learning software pre-installed. The student always has his personal data and programs with him. To date, all primary schools – more than 7500 students – from the city of Winterthur are using this Learnstick.
Studentlab is supporting the city Winterthur with development and support for this Learnstick, they are responsible for the testing of new releases and patches, supporting the users on the field and also further developing the product.
In this “hackathon”, lasting one day, we had the opportunity to work closely with Professor Standtke and his team and also with some software developers from Google. We developed various new projects for this Learnstick.
Studentlab was focused on implementing OneDrive in this project, to enable synchronization of the data with the onedrive cloud.
